Triangle Peak Loop

The sun lured me out of the house at 8am, and it was a beautiful drive out to the S. Fork of Eagle River. I had never been up to the ridge off of the Eagle and Symphony lakes Trail even though I've passed it many times.

Pretty Mountains

The ridge line from the parking lot to the top of Triangle peak was about 9 miles long and I had almost every type of weather along the way. It is beautiful.

My Shadow Looking out to Eagle and Symphony Lake

I love the lakes back in this valley, the colors are so vibrant and each lake is a different color. From Triangle peak I went down past Emerald lake and got on the valley trail that took the low route back to the parking lot.

I only took a small camel back, minimal clothes and no gourmet food. It wasn't as long as I thought it was going to be, but I was still having a hard time maintaining my trotting pace on the way out. I pretty much got totally worked and am looking forward to going and doing it again.

The Most Beautiful Day Ever: Triangle Peak

I am still glowing from the day I had. Maybe its the combination of endorphins and sunshine, amazing views and good music...not sure, but I have a new favorite place to go, and its called Triangle Peak. An incredible reward to effort to view ratio. The funny thing is I've been up here before, but it might have been one of the shortest summit stays ever... high winds, heavy gropple, and white out conditions do not encourage lingering.

Look close and you can see Denali and Foraker at the head of the valley, it's so awesome when you can see an entirely different mountain ranges than the one your standing in.

A look Down the South Fork of Eagle River Valley

As I was leaving Anchorage Brody called me and told me he was planning on going flying. I really wish I could have gone, but I was on my own mission and told Brody he should try and buzz me when he made it out. I guestimated my arrival on the top, and was incredibly accurate (helped to have a goal)!....

I'm so thankful that I gave this peak a second go around...there are a lot of the stellar mountain and lake views...

My Self Timer Summit Shot

I would really like to come back here and go up Calliope, the mountains back in this valley are incredibly aesthetic. It almost felt like an honor to be here in somewhat fair weather.

I Got Groppled On: Triangle Peak

Despite the dreary looking day I was overcome with the need to be out in the mountains, and that trumped my desire to stay dry. Triangle peak seems to be the least scramble intensive of all the peaks I would like to do in the South fork of Eagle River valley, whereas Eagle and Cantata are more weather dependent.

Looking into the mist I would soon be intimate with

All in all it was a great day out by myself. I covered 18 miles, gained 4,700 feet and did in car to car in 6.5 hours with time to take over 100 pictures along the way. Sometimes perseverance in spite of crappy weather is rewarded, this was one of those occasions.
